Sliding Wardrobes in Chesham
Bespoke Sliding Wardrobes That Feel Like Part of Your Home
A great sliding wardrobe shouldn’t dominate a bedroom. It should simplify it.
At Bretton Carpentry, we design and install bespoke sliding wardrobes in Chesham that are built around the room, not squeezed into it. Every project begins with the space itself—how you move around it, how much storage you need, how natural light enters the room and how the finished wardrobe should complement the rest of your home.
Whether you’re replacing outdated furniture, renovating a bedroom or creating a new dressing space, our made-to-measure sliding wardrobes are designed to combine practical storage with timeless design.
⸻
Designed Around the Way You Live
No two families organise their bedrooms in the same way, so no two wardrobes should be identical.
Before thinking about colours or door styles, we focus on how you’ll use the wardrobe every day. Do you need more hanging space than shelves? Would deeper drawers work better than extra cupboards? Do you need somewhere for shoes, handbags, bedding or seasonal clothing?
Designing the interior first often produces a far better wardrobe than simply choosing attractive doors.
⸻
A Sliding Wardrobe Should Complement the Room
The best fitted furniture doesn’t shout for attention.
Instead, it sits comfortably within the architecture of the room, making the bedroom feel larger, calmer and more organised.
Every sliding wardrobe in Chesham is measured to suit the room, allowing us to work around chimney breasts, alcoves, sloping ceilings, uneven walls and awkward corners that standard furniture simply can’t accommodate.
Rather than leaving wasted gaps above wardrobes or unused corners, we create storage that makes full use of the available space.
⸻
Choosing the Right Finish
The finish you choose has a huge influence on the overall feel of the bedroom.
Some homeowners prefer the clean simplicity of mirrored doors, while others choose warm woodgrain finishes that introduce texture and character. Glass panels can create a crisp contemporary appearance, while bronze, grey and silver mirrors offer a softer alternative to traditional mirrored wardrobes.
With more than 80 door and panel combinations available, your wardrobe can be designed to suit everything from a traditional cottage to a modern family home.
Available finishes include:
   ●    Clear mirror
   ●    Bronze mirror
   ●    Grey mirror
   ●    Silver mirror
   ●    Satin glass
   ●    Coloured glass
   ●    Decorative glass
   ●    Woodgrain finishes
   ●    Painted woodgrain

More Than Just Sliding Doors
The doors are only one part of the wardrobe.
Behind them is a storage system designed specifically for your home.
Every wardrobe can include combinations of:
   ●    Long hanging
   ●    Double hanging
   ●    Soft-close drawers
   ●    Adjustable shelving
   ●    Shoe storage
   ●    Jewellery drawers
   ●    Handbag storage
   ●    Folded clothing storage
   ●    Bedding storage
   ●    Pull-out accessories
   ●    Internal mirrors
   ●    LED lighting
The aim isn’t simply to create more storage, but to create storage that’s easier to live with every day.

Hidden Details That Make a Difference
Some of the best design features aren’t immediately obvious.
Many clients choose hidden mirrors positioned behind the sliding doors, allowing them to enjoy a full-length mirror without making it the dominant feature of the bedroom.
Others incorporate LED lighting that automatically illuminates the interior when the doors are opened, making everyday use easier while adding a subtle premium feel.
These details may seem small individually, but together they transform the experience of using the wardrobe.
⸻
Contemporary Design Without Following Trends
Bedrooms change over time.
That’s why we prefer designs that will still look elegant years from now rather than wardrobes that follow short-lived trends.
Simple panel layouts, carefully balanced proportions, quality aluminium frame systems and timeless finishes help create fitted furniture that continues to look at home as decorating styles evolve.
⸻
Sliding Wardrobes for Every Type of Property
Throughout Chesham, homes vary enormously, from Victorian terraces and character cottages to modern developments and extended family homes.
Because every wardrobe is made to measure, we can design storage that’s appropriate for the property rather than forcing every bedroom into the same solution.
Some clients want a dramatic wall-to-wall installation with mirrored doors. Others are looking for understated wardrobes that blend quietly into the room. Every project starts with the home itself.
⸻
A Complete Bedroom, Not Just a Wardrobe
Sliding wardrobes often become the starting point for a complete bedroom transformation.
Matching bedside cabinets, drawer units, dressing tables and fitted shelving can all be designed alongside the wardrobes, creating a room that’s visually connected and significantly more practical than a collection of freestanding furniture.
By designing everything together, the finished bedroom feels calmer, more spacious and better organised.
